I will be designing and producing a direct mail piece that will go out later this week to individuals and groups. We'll see if this generates any leads. There have been a few responses from ads placed on electronic bulletin boards with a chiropractor responding - but was interested in a trade of services, may have considered but he was in Los Angeles. And I actually completed a logo last week for a client in San Francisco, although it didn't qualify as a spot for the 'Logos for Renovation' promotion. The promotion will be offered in the direct mail campaign.
I think referrals have been working out great - I have a meeting set up to discuss a Web site design on Monday. Do great work for clients and they'll tell people they know about you. And another tip for all you freelancers and contractors out there - tell everyone you know what kind of work you do and that you are looking for leads. Have a business card ready to hand out. I printed 1000 a few months ago. I might just need to do another print run by the end of summer.
